Early on Sunday morning, October 26,  Ashleigh Roach, 16, died fleeing from the flames with her family. She was in a car with her brother and sister as they fled their home when flames overtook it. Jason, 22, incurred second-degree burns and Allyson, 20, was in critical condition at the UCSD burn unit with burns over 85 percent of her body. Their parents, John and Lori Roach, escaped with out physical harm.

The prayers worked ! Allyson finally made the move from the burn center at UCSD, to the re-hab facility where she will continue to heal, and work to regain her strength through physical and occupational therapy. Her condition has been upgraded from critical to stable, but Allyson is still very weak, and still has the trach collar which is preventing her from communicating verbally. Her progress has been remarkable over the past few weeks, and she may only have to be hospitalized for 3-4 more weeks. Although she may be able to come home, she will still have to be transported to re-hab daily for PT & OT.

We know there are many people who want to visit Allyson, and express their love and support to her, but she is still not ready to receive visitors. We know this is frustrating to her many friends who want to see her, but please have patience with her...the time will come when she wants to see people, but for now she is still struggling with her losses and working to regain her strength, and she has requested that we ask people to give her some space, and time to heal. We will keep everyone informed of her daily progress, and we will continue to share with her the messages left on the guestbook here, and the many cards and letters she receives in the mail.

Thank you all for your prayers, and support which continues to lift us up and support us through these tough times.
God bless,

Lori, John, Jason, and Allyson

An Irish dancer since age three, she loved Irish dance and placed well at the dance competition held last month in San Diego. As newly elected Queen of the House of Ireland, she was excited to represent the cottage and the Irish community. She was active in her local community and school activities and dreamed of attending Trinity University in Dublin, Ireland.

Ashleigh was such a wonderful girl, we will miss her terribly.

God bless you Ashleigh, we all love you and well miss you

Ashleigh Roach
